Art is a powerful expression of feelings and moments.

Design is an intentional expression of those feelings and moments.

What is the story? Who are you designing for? What is the meaning and end use of the product or pattern? Why are you creating what you are creating?

When I worked in landscape architecture, a plant choice, the pattern in the rubber surfacing at a playground, or the texture and tone within the wood on a fence, was all tied back to a theme; a story that was woven through the experience of space in big and small ways.

For me, the same is true for surface pattern design. Stories, moments, feelings, and themes bring so much life and personality to a design. They give meaning to establish deep meaning, thoughtful story telling, and commonality. More often than not there is a personal story and connection behind my pattern designs and I am so grateful that you visited this page to read a few of my favorite stories.
